Split Decision advances in JT's Bourbon Street Grille's 'Battle of the Bands'

Preliminary round continues at 8 p.m., tonight, Aug. 16, at JT’s Bourbon Street Grille

In front of a sizable crowd last Wednesday, Aug. 9, Split Decision became the third weekly winner in JT’s Bourbon Street Grille’s $1,000 Battle of the Bands competition.

With a mix of country, pop and classic rock, Split Decision delivered a well-polished and tight performance, which included a two-guitar attack and commanding vocals. The five-piece Rockford unit defeated hard rockers Reign of Ruin and will now join Bone Shed and five-time RAMI Award winner Blues Hawks in the finals.

Preliminary competitions continue Wednesday, Aug. 16 (tonight) and are scheduled to conclude Wednesday, Aug. 23, with three bands competing each week. This week’s competitors include Mel-E-Os Cosmos, Endity and Stereotype. The finals will be made of all weekly winners and a wild-card entry, which will all perform again to determine the first-, second- and third-place finishers. Dates for the finals will be announced Aug. 23.

Bands are asked to show up at least 45 minutes before their timeslots to ensure proper sound levels and start times. Musicians are also encouraged to call JT’s Bourbon Street Grille to confirm timeslots. The club can be reached at 964-4400.

JT’s Bourbon Street Grille is at 1407 N. Main St. in Rockford. Music starts at 8 p.m. Admission is free. For a list of competing bands, see The Rock River Times’ “Vibe Entertainment” section.
