Spring family classes announced

Discovery Center Museum’s Education Department recently announced its spring Family Classes schedule. Family Classes are designed to provide parents, children and even grandparents opportunities to spend quality time together while exploring the world through specifically planned activities, make-and-take projects, experiments and creative play.

Cost for Family Classes is as follows: Public–$20 for the first two people per family; $4 each additional family member. Members–$16 for the first two people per family; $3 each additional family member. One adult is required for every two children. Admission to and exploration of Discovery Center Museum are separate from the Museum’s Family Classes. The spring 2004 schedule of Discovery Center Museum Family Classes includes:

Rocket Launch Lunch — Design your own rocket and send it soaring. Experiment with different launch styles and build a stomp launcher to take home so you can continue your investigations. At the Museum, enjoy a pre-flight meal of pizza and pop. Ages 5 and older–Sunday, March 7, 1-3 p.m.

D’Egg-Orating — Learn about natural dyes and explore different techniques of coloring eggs. Test the strength of eggshells in unique ways, enjoy an egg-cellent snack and more. Six hard-boiled eggs will be supplied for each child. Bring your own additional eggs if you choose. Ages 5 and older–Sunday, April 4, 2-4 p.m.

Discovery Center Museum offers more than 250 hands-on exhibits for exploration of science and art. Admission to the Museum is $4 adults, $3 children (ages 2-17), younger than 2 and members are admitted free. For more information: Ann Marie Walker, marketing manager, 963-6769, ext. 2832.
