St. Anthony offers BLS Healthcare Provider renewal courses

A BLS (Basic Life Support) renewal course for those who hold a current BLS Healthcare Provider card, or Red Cross equivalent, or whose card has not been expired for more than 60 days, will be offered in November at OSF Saint Anthony Medical Center.

The BLS Healthcare Provider Renewal Course will be offered from 1 to 5 p.m., Thursday, Nov. 1; from 8 a.m. to noon, Tuesday, Nov. 13; and from 10 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Thursday, Nov. 29.

Registration is limited and must be made two weeks prior to the start of the class. Call the OSF Saint Anthony staff development department at (815) 395-5474.

The course is a self-study program. Participants must have the American Heart Association BLS Healthcare Provider textbook or CPR self-study guide and must pass the written test on the first attempt to proceed. Course fees are $30 and include the cost of the AHA BLS for Healthcare Providers textbook.

OSF Saint Anthony is the only Rockford medical center to earn the elite Magnet designation for nursing excellence. It is the highest award for nursing available in the United States.
