The St. Edward Sixth Annual Summer Fest features plenty of fun, and much of it is absolutely free. One of the few remaining homegrown, family value festivals, it takes place Friday, Aug. 18 and Saturday, Aug. 19 at 3004 11th St. Hours are 5 to 11 p.m. Friday, and noon to 11 p.m., Saturday. Admission is free with no charge for entertainment.
Bocce Ball joins kids games and the dunk tank, which is always fun. Favorite food choices include fair food such as brats, pork chops, hamburgers and hot dogs, authentic Mexican food and a corn boil. Adults can visit the beverage tent.
Also enjoy the Watermelon Eating Contest and the Parent/Child Trivia Contest. A live band will play for musical enjoyment each evening from 8 to 11 p.m. Look for The Aardvarks on Friday night and The Moon Dogs on Saturday night.
Its great fun for the family and an opportunity for some lucky winners as well. The raffle offers a first prize of a trip for two to Rome! All proceeds benefit St. Edwards School. Call 229-0282 for more information.
