Parade begins at 3 p.m., starting at AMCORE parking lot on east side of Rock River and ending at Beattie Park on west side.
The Irish Marching Society (IMS) of Rockford is planning the annual St. Patricks Day parade and party set for Saturday, March 17.
The parade will begin at 3 p.m. at the AMCORE parking lot on the east side of the Rock River and end at Beattie Park on North Main on the west side of the river. The party will begin at 5 p.m. at the Sportscore Indoor Complex east of I-90 on Riverside Boulevard.
The St. Patricks Day party will include Sweeny and Culhane and The Men of Our Times providing entertainment with special appearances by The City of Rockford Pipe Band and The McNultys traditional Irish Dancers. There will also be kids games from 5 to 7 p.m.
Family memberships for the IMS are $20 and include four tickets to the St. Pats party. Single memberships are $7 and include one admission ticket. Children younger than 12 are free. Admission at the door is $10 per person. Prepay any membership dues by e-mailing www.Irishmarchingsociety.org. As the Irish Marching Society is a nonprofit benevolent society, it wishes to remember those less fortunate by donating any non-perishable food items collected at the party to the Cornucopia Food Pantry.
Proceeds from the parade and party are distributed among local charities and scholarship awards to local Irish dance schools.
