State of the Schools address set for Dec. 7

The Annual State of the Rockford Public Schools Address is scheduled for 11:30 a.m., Thursday, Dec. 7, at Cliffbreakers.

The theme for this year’s event is “The Achievement Gap,” which will be presented by Rockford Public School District 205 Superintendent Dr. Dennis Thompson. Topics of discussion are expected to include the District’s plans for improving student achievement and development in the future. Plus, attendees will learn new information about the following:

The financial state of the District;

The status of the academic early warning and watch lists;

How the District plans to meet its challenges and take advantage of opportunities; and

The next steps after the education referendum.

Following the presentation by Dr. Thompson, questions will be taken from the audience. Registration for the State of the Schools is $30 for Chamber of Commerce members and $45 for nonmembers. Corporate tables of 10 are available for $300 each. To register, call 963-8123, ext. 4, or log on to
