‘Steppin’ Out with Jane & Homer’ July 21

Imagine yourself relaxing in downtown Rockford, dining on gourmet specialties from 15 of Rockford’s finest chefs, dancing under the stars to local favorite Men of Our Times all while enjoying the sound of friends having a great time on the banks of the Rock River.

This fifth annual social event is set for 7 p.m., Saturday, July 21. The “Steppin’ Out with Jane & Homer” party is a fund-raising event for Burpee Museum that attracts museum friends from near and far.

“What makes this event unique is the location, the time of year and the food,” said event Co-Chairman Sue Castrogiovanni. “People rave about the opportunity to dine on food from Giovanni’s, Kuma’s Asian Bistro, KiKi B’s, Basil Café, Bacchus, University Club and many more in such an intimate outdoor setting.”

The event is a casual lawn party, and the public is invited. Cost is $75 per person.

Dani Maxwell of WREX TV13 will emcee the evening, with activities to include the following:

Road Ranger Raffle—First prize is $5,000 cash, second prize $1,000 of free gas. Tickets are $5 each, three for $25, 12 for $100 and are available now at the museum.

Silent Auction—Includes a trip to sunny Florida, sports tickets and the opportunity to be a character in award-winning author Ted Bells’ next book.

Live Auction—Features a custom-designed jewelry item from Clodius & Co., unique art by local artists Keith Grace and Betsy Youngquist and a real northwoods Wisconsin fish boil.
