Parents looking for a summer full of fun for children ages 5-17 wont want to miss Rockford Park Districts second Summer Fun Expo, scheduled for Saturday, April 17, 8 a.m. until 1 p.m. at Kennedy Middle School, 4664 N. Rockton Ave., Rockford.
This free event is a one-stop shopping opportunity for parents to gather information on a multitude of summer recreation and leisure offerings for their children, all in one location, at one time, and with registration available for many programs, such as: summer camps, pony camp, horse camp, sports camps, Kid Zones, Totally Arts (formerly M.A.P. Camp), as well as lessons in swimming, tennis, golf, ice skating/hockey, and horseback riding.
Youth with disabilities are welcome to participate in all park district programs and services. Rockford Park Districts Community and Therapeutic Recreation Team offers Inclusion Services to assist youth with disabilities to successfully participate in any park district program. For information on disability support and adapted equipment, call 987-1600 (voice/TTY). At the Expo, there will be information and assistance in accessing programs and activities by Therapeutic Recreation Services, and the Fun For All Kids fee assistance program.
Spanish-speaking staff and sign language interpreters will also be on site. Children can enjoy creating projects in the supervised arts and crafts activities room while adults browse the exhibit tables.
Most Rockford Park District programs taking registration at the Expo will require either full payment, or a deposit with payment in full due by May 17.
In addition to Rockford Park District offerings, a number of partners and community organizations will provide staff, information, resources, and registration for summer programs and activities.
