Superpower Unleashed at Coffee Talk
Superpower UnleashedToo Much Power, Too Little Peace will be the subject of a Coffee Talk at 7:30 p.m., Monday, April 7, at the Unitarian Universalist church, 4848 Turner St., Rockford.
Special guest will be Douglass Cassel, director of the Center for International Human Rights and a clinical associate professor of law at Northwestern University. Cassel has served as a consultant on human rights to the Organization of American States, the U.S. State Department, the Ford Foundation, and the American Bar Association. He has served as a Special Counsel to the United Nations Commission on Truth for El Salvador. He will discuss current developments in Iraq, North Korea and the war on terrorism.
There will be a special buffet dinner before the program (6 p.m. until 7:30 p.m.) that will help raise funds for Iraqi war relief. Cost is $10 per person. Please call the UU Church at 398-6322 to reserve a spot. The speakers program is free and open to the public.
Coffee Talks are sponsored by Rockford Peace and Justice Action Committee. The discussions are free and open to everyone.
