Have you always wanted to see the inside of an operating room? Are you planning to enter the medical field? Planning to have surgery soon?
The Department of Surgery at SwedishAmerican Hospital will host an Open House for the community Saturday, April 22, from 1 to 4 p.m. The $9.2 million renovation yields an additional 9,000 square feet of space to the surgical area. In addition, four surgery suites have been completely remodeled to furnish state-of-the-art integrated technology that enhances resource availability to patients and medical staff. The other nine suites also feature this technology.
Tours will be conducted through the Surgicare Center, the Operating Room and PACU (Post Anesthesia Unit). The four new Operating Rooms will be set up to showcase surgeries done in the department. These include; endostent repair of an abdominal aortic aneurysm, endoscopic vein harvest for coronary artery bypass, computer-assisted total knee replacement, and general laparoscopic cases.
Visitors to the Open House should enter the main entrance to the Hospital off State Street. Refreshments will be served. For further information, call (815) 489-4950.
