SwedishAmerican State Street Mile Aug. 12

The 22nd annual SwedishAmerican State Street Mile will be Saturday, Aug. 12. The race begins directly in front of SwedishAmerican’s State Street entrance.

SwedishAmerican’s State Street Mile includes several popular races—Men’s and Women’s Open and Masters, a non-competitive Fun/Run Walk, a kids quarter mile Fun Run, and Male and Female Ben News Jr. Heats for K-12th grade students. The race has been called “The Fastest Mile in the Midwest.” It receives this designation due to the fact that much of the race is downhill.

Hundreds of runners are expected to participate, coming from many of the states surrounding Illinois. Runners have come from as far as New York to participate in the unique mile run.

SwedishAmerican’s State Street Mile will begin at 5 p.m. with a non-competitive walk/run, and conclude at 7:15 p.m. with the Awards Ceremony on the Hospital grounds. In addition to the race events, there will be numerous educational and food booths.
