Symphony offers classes for home schoolers

The Rockford Symphony Orchestra (RSO) kicks off the school year with a class for home schooled students ages 5-10. “Orchestra Adventures” is an interactive, fun and educational introduction to the instrument families in the orchestra.

The class is offered Wednesday, Sept. 13, and will be repeated Wednesday, Sept. 20 from 1:30-2:30 p.m. in the Riverfront Museum Park Theatre at 711 N. Main St. in Rockford. Cost for the class is $5 per child. Participants will journey through Benjamin Britten’s Young Person’s Guide to the Orchestra, with listening games and other activities, led by RSO Education Director Lorie Langan.

Britten’s classic work is part of the program for the KinderKonzert Sunday, Oct. 1 at 3 p.m. For more information about all the RSO’s educational programs and outreach for children and adults, visit or call 972-2939.
