Take Home Rockford history for the holidays

Still available for holiday giving this year are two books from Tinker Swiss Cottage Museum: Robert Tinker’s Rockford: Walking Tours for Children and Adults and The Tinker Family Album.

Robert Tinker’s Rockford features four walking tours exploring Rockford’s historic architecture and buildings with which the Tinker family was familiar. Stories from Tinker family diaries and records bring these architectural treasures to life. Walkers—as well as armchair travelers—can stroll through historic Haight Village, the Brown’s Hills/Knightsville neighborhood abutting Sinnissippi Park, the downtown River District, and the Museum’s own southwest neighborhood.

The Tinker Family Album is based on a family photo album in the museum’s collection. The album features rare historic photographs as well as history of the Tinker family and their unique Cottage.

Copies of Robert Tinker’s Rockford and The Tinker Family Album are available for $5 each at the Tinker Swiss Cottage Museum Store. The store is open daily 12 to 4 p.m. Also carrying the books are Bob’s Hardware and the Gift Box. Robert Tinker’s Rockford is also on sale at Borders Books. Proceeds support Tinker Swiss Cottage Museum educational programs.
