Take Home Rockford history for the holidays
Still available for holiday giving this year are two books from Tinker Swiss Cottage Museum: Robert Tinkers Rockford: Walking Tours for Children and Adults and The Tinker Family Album.
Robert Tinkers Rockford features four walking tours exploring Rockfords historic architecture and buildings with which the Tinker family was familiar. Stories from Tinker family diaries and records bring these architectural treasures to life. Walkersas well as armchair travelerscan stroll through historic Haight Village, the Browns Hills/Knightsville neighborhood abutting Sinnissippi Park, the downtown River District, and the Museums own southwest neighborhood.
The Tinker Family Album is based on a family photo album in the museums collection. The album features rare historic photographs as well as history of the Tinker family and their unique Cottage.
Copies of Robert Tinkers Rockford and The Tinker Family Album are available for $5 each at the Tinker Swiss Cottage Museum Store. The store is open daily 12 to 4 p.m. Also carrying the books are Bobs Hardware and the Gift Box. Robert Tinkers Rockford is also on sale at Borders Books. Proceeds support Tinker Swiss Cottage Museum educational programs.
