Tattoos Optional—not a part of ARTscene, but might as well be

RAW Art Studio Gallery, 2500 N. Main St., is not included in the official ARTscene “tour,” but it really might as well be. Since the exhibit running there that weekend, Tattoos Optional will be open to the public, and since visiting Studio 451 on the ARTscene roster necessitates walking through RAW Art, locals might as well stay for a moment to see the exhibit of the “all-American chopper.” The title of the show truly displays the all-around attitude that pervades most exhibits at Russ Blahnik’s studio, that is, visitors don’t need to be a of a any certain group to drop in and appreciate art. Tattoos Optional will be displaying a collection of choppers or bikes, and the men and women who ride, design and make them will be available to answer questions and chat. If you’d like to show your own bike, just bring it and Blahnik will find a safe place for it. There will also be a static display of Tony Anderson’s Alcohol Rear Draft for those interested in racing. RAW Art Studio will be open during ARTscene, Friday, Oct. 3 and 4 from 5-9 p.m., Friday and 3-9 p.m. Saturday. Admission is always free.
