Ted Koppel joins NPR

DeKalb—Ted Koppel debuted as an NPR Senior News Analyst on Thursday, June 8, during All Things Considered, heard weekday afternoons from 3:00 to 5:30 p.m. on 89.5 WNIJ.

Koppel’s essay addressed the unintended consequences of United States policy toward Somalia over the last two decades. Koppel, now managing editor at Discovery Communications, recently left ABC News, where his reporting took him across the world—and to Somalia. This kicks off Koppel’s regular on-air presence across NPR shows, focusing on topics ranging from national security, values, privacy, health and the media to world affairs.

“Ted Koppel’s appearances on NPR will be enlightening and will add to NPR’s tradition of in-depth reporting and analysis. We’re proud to be able to bring him to Rockford-area listeners,” said Tim Emmons, director and general manager of Northern Public Radio.

WNIJ is the News/Talk service of Northern Public Radio, the broadcast service of Northern Illinois University.
