Local rock band The Braves will perform the Sunday night session at the Irish Rose, Jan. 11, staging an acoustic show for Rockford music fans.
Known previously for their indie rock style (hopefully they wont be offended by that title), the group claims to be well-versed in acoustic instrumentation. A highlight of The Braves is their lyrics by Joe Reina, which never fail to confuse me in a thought-provoking manner.
It will be a little different from the usual blues, jazz and folk that the Rose usually hosts every Sunday, and will perhaps open up the community to something beyond the norm for music venues. The band is: Joe Reina on vocals and guitar, Jesse Carmona on drums, Kevin Schwitters on guitar, Shawn Ross on drums and Phil Goudreau on guitar.
As always, the cover is $3 and the band plays from 8:30-11:30 p.m. Information: The Irish Rose, 519 E. State St., phone 964-9767.
