The Pascere Concert—a musical feast

As many sectors of the U.S. economy weaken, the hardest hit by this disheartening news are the less fortunate. For the third consecutive year, Rockford area musicians are responding to the plight of the less fortunate by performing at the Pascere Concert to raise food donations for the Rockford Rescue Mission.

The concert will be at 7:30 p.m., Thursday, Feb. 27, at the Mendelssohn Club, 415 N. Church St., Rockford. Admission is 5 pounds of non-perishable food collected at the door. Open seating begins at 7 p.m.

The concert program begins with the Haydn Trumpet Concerto, performed by Kevin Davis (principal trumpet, Kishwaukee Symphony Orchestra) and Patricia Jeske (piano instructor, Rockford College Music Academy). Patricia Jeske then continues by performing selections from the standard piano repertoire, and is followed by Eric Schroeder (guitar instructor, Rockford College Music Academy) who will perform selections from the classical guitar repertoire.

After a brief intermission, the locally renowned vocalist and pianist Jodi Beach will perform a variety of jazz compositions with the Jodi Beach Trio. The concert offers a well-balanced diet of music for the listener, and with your participation, a well-balanced diet of food for the less fortunate.
