The Rev. Dan Willis headlines ‘The Family Station’

The Rev. Dan Willis and the All Nations Choir will perform at “The Family Station” at On the Waterfront at 8 p.m., Sunday, Sept. 5.

Renowned gospel artist Willis has performed across the United States and around the world. He has sung solo with other well-known artists such as Celine Dion and CeCe Winans, and with his 100-member choir. The choir brings together people of all races, status and age, all who enjoy sharing the gospel word through song. Reverend Dan will be bringing just a few from his 100-member choir to OTW.

Reverend Dan is not your ordinary preacher. At only 16 years of age, he became the founder and pastor of The Lighthouse Church in Alsip, Ill., and has more recently spent time ministering to incarcerated men, women and youth. Reverend Dan is a singer, songwriter, producer and host of TLN TV51’s live music competition program, Inspiration Sensation. Last spring, hundreds of Rockford and Chicago teen-agers and young adults competed on television (TV51) for the title of “Inspiration Sensation.” Reverend Dan will be hosting the program again next spring.

“The Family Station” is a new, faith-based venue at On the Waterfront, brought to you by TLN TV51 and Radio 91. In addition to The Rev. Dan Willis’ performance, “The Family Station” will provide other inspirational music, interactive entertainment (including a live singing competition called “Church Challenge”), games, prizes, and your favorite personalities including Jerry and Shirley Rose, and those famous animated insects, Buzz and Poppy.

The “Family Station” will be located in the downtown pedestrian mall, at the corner of Elm and Main streets, and will be open during festival hours from 5 p.m., Friday, Sept. 3, through 10 p.m., Sunday, Sept. 5.
