The Rock River Times–an anniversary! Nine years plus, and counting
The staff of The Rock River Times proudly points to our masthead, which this week turns over to Volume Number 9, Issue Number 1 (Vol. 9, No. 1). In other words, with this weeks issue, under the name The Rock River Times, we are entering our ninth year of publication, under the 52-issue cycle. Actually, Editor and Publisher Frank Schiers ownership began in January of 1993, when the paper was The North End Times, a monthly publication. To become more regional in scope, the papers name was changed to The Rock River Times in June of 1993; and to become more timely for readers, the paper began weekly publication on Dec. 2, 1993. The North End Times was owned by the Phelps family from April 1990 to December 1992, with Joe Baker as editor. The paper was founded by John and Renie Gile in 1987.
