Third Annual Gourmet Alley on Sept 30
The Northern Illinois Botanical Society and On The Waterfront, Inc. will combine forces again for the Third Annual Gourmet Alley. The event will showcase vendors, chefs and artisans from throughout the Midwest.
Gourmet Alley will take place from 10 a.m to 4:30 p.m. on Sunday, Sept. 30 at Klehm Arboretum and Botanic Garden, 2701 Clifton Avenue. The event, which offers food both for sampling and for sale, will celebrate the gastronomic delights of a variety of regional vendors including organic produce, handmade cheeses, quality meats, pastas, salsas, sauces, traditional breads, seasonings, outstanding beers and world-class wines.
Patrons will be able to stroll the grounds of the Arboretum and indulge in products from more than 30 regional vendors. A wine and beer garden will also be available for relaxation after making purchases or simply to take a breather before sampling more delectable fare. Cooking demonstrations from the Midwest Center for Health and Healing and The Culinary Arts Institute of Rockford will be given in the CLARCOR Pavilion and be scheduled throughout the day. Ice sculpting, wreath and swag demonstrations and beautiful music are just a few of the offerings for Gourmet Alley participants enjoyment. Children will also be able to take part in the days events through fun, hands-on activities that incorporate the Cultural Corridors No Place Like Home campaign.
