Thompson at ‘Lessons for a Lifetime’ dinner

Dennis Thompson, superintendent of Rockford Public Schools District 205, will give the keynote address at the 51st annual meeting and dinner of the Community Foundation of Northern Illinois. The event, titled “Lessons for a Lifetime,” will be from 5:30-8:30 p.m. on Thursday, Nov. 4, at Giovanni’s, 610 N. Bell School Rd., in Rockford. Tickets are $50 per person and may be obtained by calling 962-2110, ext. 10.

“Dr. Thompson’s address is ‘Global Reality and the Classroom’,” said Community Foundation President Gloria T. Lundin. “He will be talking about the myriad challenges our region faces in light of the global economic order, and what all of our educational institutions, not just District 205, should be doing to equip students for success.”

“His message encompasses not only the academic disciplines, but the thinking skills and social graces needed to thrive in our ever more populous, interdependent world,” Lundin said. The evening also includes the unveiling of a new logo and Web site for the Community Foundation, which are the culmination of an 18-month-long redesign project launched during the Foundation’s 50th anniversary year in 2003. Fetelli Inc. advertising and design company of Rockford is responsible for the project.

“As the Foundation enters its second half-century,” said Fetelli Creative Director Jason Farris, “we’ve created a new image that conveys the essence of the enduring qualities of the Community Foundation of Northern Illinois.”
