Time capsule contains The Rock River Times

Northern Illinois Blood Bank commemorated September 11 with a blood drive to replenish depleted supplies for the nation’s disaster. The blood drive included a time capsule NIBB set up with opening date slated for September 11, 2052, 50 years after the one-year anniversary. Contents of the capsule include two issues of The Rock River Times, put in by St. James student Louis Much.

Much, a singer and skater, heard about the event at school and then later on TV. He urged his mother to take him to the Blood Bank to find out more about the time capsule. Much chose two issues of ‘The Voice of the Community’: one containing an article with Much standing next to skater Scott Hamilton, and the September 11-17, 2002 issue. Much also offered a ball signed by his favorite River Hawk, right fielder, Richard Austin.

Much, a Rock River Times reader, entered the newspapers because he wants people to remember the publication in the future and says that he will be there in 50 years when the capsule is opened.
