Time to sign up for 15th annual CROP Hunger Walk

This year’s CROP Hunger Walk is Sunday, Oct. 13, starting at 2 p.m. at Trinity Lutheran Church, 200 N. First St., Rockford (note new location).

Last year, 178 CROP Hunger Walkers raised $15,400 with one quarter staying here and the rest going to designated overseas relief organizations. The goal this year is $20,000.

The Rockford Area CROP Hunger Walk was started in 1987 by Rockford Urban Ministries and supports both overseas and local hunger programs. Walkers are invited to secure sponsors who donate for hunger relief.

A wealth of materials is available, including a video, posters and the all-important sponsor records. If anyone would like to walk in this year’s Hunger Walk or help raise funds, you can pick up a poster and sponsor record at participating congregations or call Rockford Urban Ministries.

Please pick up CROP Hunger Walk materials. Call Stanley Campbell at the RUM office, 964-7111, or Cindy Lynn Ostergard at 972-2955 to pick up materials. She works for Northern Public Radio, second floor of the Riverfront Museum Park, 711 N. Main St.). For more information, call Rockford Urban Ministries at 964-7111.

The CROP Hunger Walk is interdenominational and interfaith and is co-sponsored by Rockford Urban Ministries and Rockford Area Lutheran Ministries.
