Beginning in both America and England in the late l880s, fine hotels began to offer tea service in Tea Rooms and Tea Courts. Victorian ladies and their gentlemen would meet in the late afternoon for tea and conversation. Many of these tea services became so well known, certain hotels, like The Ritz in Boston and The Plaza in New York, were noted for them, among other special services. The Tinker family was known to enjoy their afternoon tea.
Live music will be provided at the noon seating by a harpist and dulcimer player and at the 3 p.m. by a cellist. Admission is $25 per person, $20 for Tinker Swiss Cottage Museum members and $15 for children ages 5 and older. Reservations are required.
The Second Annual Victorian Tea will benefit the education programs offered by Tinker Swiss Cottage Museum.
