Hearing an old, familiar song on the radio in this city is still possible now, thanks to Rockfords newest radio station, WTPB 99.3 FM.
The station is owned and operated by Third Presbyterian Church on the citys northwest side.
Big band tunes, pleasing instrumentals and some religious shows make up the format of this new broadcast operation.
WTPB also monitors the National Weather Service and will broadcast any storm warnings for the area.
Heard each day is John Russells Musical Memories program, which features vintage tunes. Sermons by Dr. Murray Hanson, pastor of Third Presbyterian Church of Rockford, three national religious programs and music by local jazz musicians is also played on the station.
The operation is a low-power community radio station designed to serve the Rockford area. Info: 962-7889.
