Two Rockford Park District Commissioner positions up for election in April

Two seats on the Rockford Park District Board of Commissioners will be on the ballot at the April 17, 2007, election. Each member of the five-member non-partisan Board of Commissioners serves a six-year term. The Commissioners are elected at large and serve without compensation.

Candidates for the position of Park District Commissioner must be registered voters and have lived within the Park District boundaries for at least one year prior to the election. The Rockford Park District serves the communities of Cherry Valley, Loves Park, New Milford and Rockford, including areas of unincorporated Winnebago and Boone counties.

Candidates may circulate nominating petitions for signatures beginning Nov. 7 and file the completed petitions at the Park District office, 401 S. Main St., from Monday, Jan. 29 through Monday, Feb. 5, 2007. The required number of signatures for the 2007 election is 862.

Forms are now available at the Rockford Park District Director’s Office, 401 S. Main St., Rockford, from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Friday.
