With the recent passing of the third anniversary of 9/11, there were many editorial musings in the press about what really happened, who was behind it and the meaning of it all, not to mention why we know little more now than we did on the day itself.

We witnessed the Bush administration seek to obstruct any investigations and to block creation of any congressional or other commissions to conduct a truly impartial probe.

When President Bush finally consented to name a commission, he appointed one with so many conflicts that the success of the venture was torpedoed before it began. That has been borne out by the storm of criticism of its final report with its many glaring omissions and distortions.

The official story of 9/11 is familiar to us all: Osama bin Laden was behind it; the attacks were carried out by 19 Saudi hijackers armed with boxcutters; and the intelligence agencies failed to detect the impending attack, and Norad was unable to respond in time. Of course, the administration had no warnings these attacks were about to happen, or so they claim.

There have been numerous theories about who or what was involved and even a few books. But there has not been much proof or evidence offered, not even by the government. For instance, what conclusive proof do you recall seeing or hearing about the presence of those 19 alleged al-Qaeda operatives being on those airplanes?

We heard an account of where President Bush was at various times during that day and what he was doing. Do you recall hearing anything about where Vice President Cheney was or what he was doing? We were told only that he and Condoleezza Rice, the national security adviser, had been taken to “an undisclosed location” where they would be secure. Never another word about what they were doing there.

The media and most Americans have failed to connect the dots of 9/11, although some have tried mightily. Publisher Mike Ruppert has spent the past two and a half years seeking the answers to these and many other troubling questions about the most traumatic experience to strike our shores in recent history.

By mid-October, his new book, Crossing the Rubicon: The Decline of the American Empire at the End of the Age of Oil, will be on the shelves in the nation’s bookstores and can be purchased over the Internet.

Ruppert’s findings are startling and highly shocking. Many will refuse to believe them, but the documentation is there to be read. As Scripture put it: “He who has ears to hear, let him hear and he who has eyes to see, let him see.” There are more than 1,100 source citations listed in this book.

Ruppert scoured thousands of documents, read hundreds of press reports, and interviewed dozens of officials and citizens in his pursuit of this story. It is one that should be at the very least examined by every American capable of reading and understanding what he is reporting.

In talking about his new book, Ruppert declared: “In my new book, I will be making several key points: I will name Richard Cheney as the prime suspect in the mass murders of 9/11 and will establish that, not only was he a planner in the attacks, but also that on the day of the attacks, he was running a completely separate Command, Control and Communications system that was superseding any orders being issued by the NMCC (National Military Command Center), or the White House Situation Room.”

Another point states: “I will also prove conclusively that a number of public officials, at the national and New York City levels, including then-Mayor Rudolph Giuliani, were aware that Flight 175 was en route to lower Manhattan for 20 minutes and did nothing to order the evacuation of or warn the occupants of the South Tower. One military officer was forced to leave his post in the middle of the attacks and place a private call to his brother–who worked at the WTC–warning him to get out. That was because no other part of the system was taking action.”

That is a very small part of what is contained in Ruppert’s report. A larger portion of it is contained in a speech he delivered at the end of last month to the Commonwealth Club in Los Angeles.

That speech, in the form of a PDF, can be downloaded from Ruppert’s Web site: It is 54 pages long but an extremely enlightening dissertation on 9/11 and some other very important national issues.

Those who want to educate themselves further about 9/11 need only go on the Internet and type in those numbers. Several files will appear that contain a wealth of documented information about the events of that terrible day.

We tend to forget some of the details of that tragedy. Many have not recalled the suspicious financial transactions in American and United Airlines stock before the attacks.

Back in 2001, Ruppert wrote: “…there is abundant and clear evidence that a number of transactions in financial markets indicated specific (criminal) foreknowledge of the September 11 attacks on the World Trade Center and the Pentagon.”

His book will provide further details on those dealings and point to the likely individuals and organizations involved in this blood-stained profit taking.

It is a certainty that, as with most factual revelations, those who disagree or who don’t want to believe it, will attack the messenger. To those individuals, Ruppert says: “There is more reason to be afraid of not facing the evidence in this book than of facing what is in it.”
