Village of Roscoe considers new engineer position


Lowell Smith, president of the Village of Roscoe, has announced that the village is considering creating a new “village engineer” position, as part of the village’s cost-saving measures. This will be a full-time position.

The village engineer would report to the village president and function as the village’s chief engineer for land use and planning, and public improvement activities. He or she will also be responsible for coordinating and planning of public improvements including streets, water and sewer systems and other public facilities. The village engineer will also be used to help with zoning administration and inspections.

The village is looking for someone with the following qualifications: a degree in civil engineering; at least five years professional civil engineering experience; knowledge of engineering techniques in relation to design, construction, remodeling and maintenance of public improvements; knowledge of laws related to planning, development, construction and maintenance of public improvements; and a license as a Professional Engineer by State of Illinois or ability to obtain license within six months of hire date.
