Volunteers needed for 154th Ogle County Fair Aug. 1-5

OREGON, Ill.—Volunteers are needed to help before and during the 154th Ogle County Fair in Oregon, Ill., which runs Aug. 1-5. The theme is “A Taste of Heaven in 2007.”

The Ogle County ARES have volunteered again to help with the parking of vehicles. ARES stands for Amateur Radio Emergency Services. More than 35,000 amateurs nationwide have voluntarily registered their services and formed an organized pool of operators to provide reliable primary and secondary communications links for government agencies and/or non-profit organizations when needed.

Volunteers are needed at the front gate, grandstands, exhibit building, parking lot, etc.

At the annual banquet, a Volunteer of the Year was named. Last year’s volunteer was the Ogle County Beef Association. Previous winners were Forrest Floto, Ron Baker, Pete Holm, Nathan Zellers, Dr. Tom Hughes, Ben Greiner, Stan Eden, Tom Snodgrass, and the FFA Chapter Oregon High School and Curt Fruit.

The fairgrounds has grown considerably since the move to Limekiln Road in l993. Contact Donna Jean Wallgren at (815) 734-7973 for more information.
