Volunteers needed to work at Enders Greenhouse

Starting in mid-February, the Natural Land Institute and Enders Greenhouse need help transplanting native trees, woodland and wetland plant seedlings for the Nygren Wetland Nursery and Preserve. These seedlings are a vital component in the restoration and recreation of the native ecosystems of the 721-acre Nygren Preserve.

Your time commitment at Enders Greenhouse once a week for a few months will give you intimate contact with native plants, and a sunny place to work on a cold winter day. You will enjoy the camaraderie of others with the same interests while learning about native plant seedling care. Gain insights into native plant propagation through the expertise of Anne Meyer and her staff. You will also receive a discount on your purchases at the greenhouse and a chance to join other volunteers on field trips.

If your are handy, you are needed today for light repairs on the greenhouse itself. Transplanting will start in February and continue through May.

If you are able to work once a week for three hours or want more information, please contact Shannon Neuendorf at the Natural Land Institute, (815) 964-6666 or nli@aol.com.
