Walk for Diabetes seeks volunteers & sponsors

The American Diabetes Association (ADA) will be hosting America’s Walk for Diabetes in Rockford at beautiful Klehm Arboretum Sept. 25. Volunteers to help plan the event, corporate sponsorship positions as well as family and corporate teams are now forming. Deadline for corporate sponsorship logo inclusion in the “Walk Registration Brochure” is April 12.This includes any organization or company interested in being the Gold Sponsor, Presenting Sponsor or National Title Sponsor, all of which will share speaking opportunities at the seven Illinois Walk locations among other honors and benefits. Committees are now forming, and other volunteer and sponsorship positions are available and on going. Find out more by attending the next planning meeting on Wednesday, April 13th at 6 p.m. at Rockford Memorial Hospital, 2400 N. Rockton Ave., in the main dinning room reserved conference areas.

This is an excellent opportunity to make a real difference as well as bring awareness to the more than 632,000 people in Illinois living with diabetes. Each year, 1.3 million are diagnosed with diabetes with 18.2 million currently affected. Premature mortality and direct medical costs burden the State of Illinois in access of $7.3 million annually. The American Diabetes Association (ADA) is the nation’s leading nonprofit health organization providing diabetes research, information and advocacy. Founded in 1940, the ADA conducts programs in all 50 states and the District of Columbia, reaching more than 800 communities. One of the primary modes of public fund-raising for the ADA is the America’s Walk for Diabetes programs. Please help bring awareness and raise funds by becoming a volunteer, participant, or sponsor in Rockford’s First Walk for Diabetes 2005.
