Weather Service connects to radio station

Rockford’s newest radio station, WTPB 99.3 FM, is now connected to the National Weather Service. Special monitoring equipment will allow the radio station to rebroadcast storm warnings for the area.

WTPB is a low-power community radio station owned and operated by Third Presbyterian Church in Rockford in conjunction with Rockford College. The station features easy listening music, sermons by the church’s pastor, Dr. Murray Hanson, and three national religious programs.

John Russell Ghrist’s Musical Memories is also aired daily. The program includes big band tunes and music by local jazz performers. For information about the station, call 962-7889.
