WEB EXCLUSIVE: In Youth We Trust to Trash the Trash in River District

River District Association is partnering with the In Youth We Trust Council from the Community Foundation of Northern Illinois to coordinate a downtown cleanup. The young people will pick up trash in River District on Saturday, April 12, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. The IYWT Council is also calling on other youth in the community to cleanup other areas of their community. The River District clean up is made possible with the help of the city of Rockford, Rockford Park District, and Winnebago Rockford Clean and Beautiful.

The In Youth We Trust Council is sponsoring a community-wide service project to be held on National Youth Service Day. It’s called “Trash the Trash,” and it’s a community cleanup day for Boone, Ogle, Stephenson, and Winnebago counties. The event will be Saturday, April 12 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.

National Youth Service Day, the largest service event in the world, mobilizes youth to identify and address the needs of their communities through service, recruits the next generation of volunteers, and educates the public about the year-round contributions of youth as community leaders. The national event is a program of Youth Service America. Learn more about Youth Service America at www.ysa.org.

The IYWT Council will spend the day “trashing trash” in downtown Rockford. Youth groups in the region are invited to either help with downtown Rockford or to pick another area within Boone, Ogle, Stephenson, or Winnebago counties.
