Weekend fun for groups at Atwood Park

Rockford Park District’s Atwood Outdoor Education Center provides several unique recreational programs for groups to enjoy on winter weekends. Experience the latest craze with a winter twist—Geo-Skiing, a six-hour program that includes cross country ski instruction, then geo-caching along the park’s ski trails for $15 per person, ages 10-adult. The Snowflake Shoot introduces families and groups ages 8-adult to the sport of archery with indoor instruction followed by practice rounds on the outdoor range, with a winter nature hike option; cost for this five-hour program is $10 per person. Scout Workshops featuring winter specialties are also available, featuring a series of hikes, games, and activities relating to scout badge requirements; the two-hour program cost is $4 per person. Group programs are offered through February, with a minimum of eight participants; food service is also available on site. Atwood Lodge is at 2685 New Milford School Rd., Rockford.
