Weekend fun for groups at Atwood

Rockford Park District’s Atwood Outdoor Education Center provides several unique recreational programs for groups to enjoy on winter weekends. Experience the latest craze with a winter twist—Geo-Skiing, a six-hour program that includes cross country ski instruction, then geo-caching along the park’s ski trails for $15 per person, ages 10-adult. The Snowflake Shoot introduces families and groups ages 8-adult to the sport of archery with indoor instruction followed by practice rounds on the outdoor range, with a winter nature hike option; cost for this 5-hour program is $10 per person. Scout Workshops featuring winter specialties are also available, featuring a series of hikes, games, and activities relating to scout badge requirements; the 2-hour program cost is $4 per person. Group programs are offered through February, with a minimum of eight participants; food service is also available on site. Atwood Lodge is at 2685 New Milford School Rd., Rockford.
