Patrice Vecchio is an accredited cruise counselor and travel agent based in Rockford. For the past eight years, she has been leading group-style tours on land and at sea.
Four and a half years ago, she was diagnosed with breast cancer. Following a mastectomy, she decided to take a more holistic approach to health and wellness vs. the traditional chemotherapy. After lengthy exposure to several naturopathic experts in the alternative medicine community, she became passionate about creating a rich foundation where others could benefit from their lifelong knowledge and practical guidance.
The public is invited to join leading health, healing and wellness experts from the area on the first Wellness Adventure Cruise. The mission of the Wellness Cruise is to bring together a group of professionals to share their knowledge and research, and for participants to build a network of friends dedicated to wellness and health promotion. Stress is a leading cause of disease and chronic health conditions. The Wellness Adventure Cruise is a way to de-stress, while learning tangible applications and lifelong lessons focused on health.

Dr. Julia Whipkey-Michniewicz, N.D.: A Registered Naturopathic Doctor, Licensed Massage Therapist, and Registered Colon Hydrotherapist, Dr. Julia chose to clean and rebuild her body through colon hydrotherapy vs. chemical/radiation therapy once diagnosed with breast cancer. Her lifes work is now educating people on the benefits of colon hygiene and what we eat is who we are. Dr. Julias subject matter will be on Death Begins in the Colon.
Sandi Swanson: A practicing educator of holistic health and wellness, Sandis mission is to educate and empower women to take responsibility for their health and wellness, and in the process, create an opportunity for lifestyle change and transformation. Sandi will address Creating Balance, and the impact on your energy level, attitude and appearance. She is a graduate of Northern Prairie School of Therapeutic Massage and Bodywork, and the Florida Academy of Massage and Skin Care.
Carolyn Mehr: A Holistic Nutritionist and Health Minister whose quarterly newsletter, Sing a New Song, gives advice on maintaining optimum health and informs readers of monthly healthy living Support Group meetings. She teaches Get Healthy-Stay Balanced workshops and Forget Cooking raw food prep classes several times a year. Learn how to eliminate sickness by changing what you eat.
Harriet Ford: An investigative reporter and published journalist who has written devotions for Daily Bread, served as a local advice columnist for more than 12 years, and led several non-denominational Bible studies, will teach a series on Bible-based fun and spiritual fitness. Topics of consideration include The Healing Power of Holy Laughter, How to Conquer the What-if Worries of the Mind, How to Live Your Life so That the Preacher Doesnt Have to Lie at Your Funeral, etc.
Hallie Johnston: An accomplished opera singer, entertainer and vocal instructor, will bring a comprehensive learning experience using your body as an instrument, beginning with breathing and exercise, and moving into developing your singing voice in her session titled Overcoming the Fear Factor. No talent required! Discover how learning to sing can change your lifea great way to build confidence, reduce stress and feel joy!
Claudette Pirello: A practitioner of yoga for more than 30 years, Claudette has been teaching Integral Yoga for more than six years. Her gentle vinyasa style of yoga and meditation emerged from her years of deep personal commitment to her own practice, her studies through the Integral Yoga Foundation, and from continued teacher training and workshops. She is also a practitioner of Healing Touch, Quantum Touch, and is a Reiki Master.
