Rockford Womans Club members are bringing one of the reigning queens of Chicago talk radio, Kathy OMalley of The Kathy and Judy Show, to Rockford for a personal engagement Thursday, Oct. 30. Proceeds will benefit Rockford Womans Club and its philanthropic projects.
The club is hosting a reception, dinner and program open to the public featuring OMalley of WGN-720. OMalley, a humorist, will present an insightful program about her life and career as a journalist.
The evening begins at 5:30 p.m. with an informal reception to meet OMalley at the Rockford Womans Club. Dinner, catered by Bacchus Wine Bar, will follow at 6:15 p.m. in the Womans Club dining room.

Since 1989, OMalley has co-hosted a talk show with Judy Markey that started as a once-a-week experiment. The real-life friends, who were competing journalists from rival Chicago newspaper when their show began, are now handling the 9 a.m.-noon shift weekdays on WGN radio.
OMalley attended Northern Illinois University in DeKalb. She joined the Chicago Tribune in 1979 and worked there until 1995 when her radio show was expanded to four hours a day. She is co-founder of the Aaron Gold Scholarship Fund at the Theatre School of DePaul University. She served as a member of the Chicago Leadership Council of the National Osteoporosis Foundation and as a volunteer for Open Hand Chicago. She is currently a tutor in the Fourth Presbyterian Church of Chicagos Partners in Education program. A mother of two adult children and grandmother of four, she lives on Chicagos north side and prides herself that she hasnt cooked a balanced meal since 1983.
