Which way is the wind blowing? Windmill farms in Boone County

Sierra Club BlackHawk Chapter will host a discussion about “Which Way is the Wind Blowing? Windmill Farms in Boone County” at 7:30 p.m., Monday, Sept. 26, at the Unitarian Universalist Church of Rockford, 4848 Turner St.

The panel participants include Robert Lindstrom, the Regional Energy program manager at Rock Valley College; Wallace Ramsey, Boone County farmer who wants to build a 25-megawatt wind farm; as well as Drs. Robert and Sonia Vogl, president and vice president of the Illinois Renewable Energy Association. This panel will answer questions about noise, pollution, bird migrations, government subsidies, and electrical energy production. Representatives from the opposition have also been invited, but have not confirmed whether they will attend.

The program is free and open to the public. Everyone is invited.
