Williams to discuss school budget cuts
Mike Williams, District A School Board member, has scheduled two meetings to discuss the impact of budget cuts and to answer questions regarding Unitary Status committees. Williams will chair the meetings.
The meetings are scheduled for Wednesday, Oct. 3 and Monday, Oct. 15. Both meetings will be held from 7 to 8:30 p.m. in the Community Room at Booker Washington Community Center, 524 Kent St., Rockford. Parents, students and other residents of District A who may have questions or concerns about the impact of recent and proposed cuts in the school district budget, are encouraged to attend.
Superintendent of Schools Dr. Alan Brown and Associate Superintendent Joyce Price will attend the meetings to discuss the impact of the cuts and answer questions regarding Unitary Status committees. Gary Bishop, general director of Special Education, will discuss special education programs and the potential impact of budget cuts on special education services. Other questions from the audience will also be welcome.
Rev. Steve Bland, education chairman of the Rockford Ministers Fellowship, and Lewis Jordan, president of the Rockford Branch NAACP will also attend.
