City of Gardens hosts its first fund-raiser in Sinnissippi Rose Garden
The City of Gardens will host its first Wine & Roses fund-raiser from 5 to 7:30 p.m., Thursday, June 10 in the Sinnissippi Rose Garden, 1300 N. Second St. The event will feature premier wines, hors doeuvres, chocolates, soft drinks, flowers and entertainment. Local symphony harpist Nanette Felix, sponsored by John and Pat Pepe, will provide the music for the garden event.
Sinnissippi Rose Garden is a natural setting for the event, said Ruth Miller, program director for the City of Gardens. There are more than 2,400 rose plants that bloom throughout the summer. Its a lovely site and one that I hope all community members will visit at some time, she added. The garden has more than 54 different rose varieties, including tea roses, floribunda, tree and shrub roses. In 2002, the Rose Garden received the All America Rose Selection Award for outstanding maintenance.
Sponsors for this years Wine & Roses include Rock River Bank, Cliffbreakers, Crimson Ridge, Table 13, River District Café, and Irish Rose. Proceeds from this event benefit the City of Gardens and the Sinnissippi Rose Garden Endowment. Cost is $35 per person. Call 987-1689 for reservations.
