Winter wanderings at Atwood Park

The Rockford Park District invites the public to enjoy a day of Winter Wanderings at scenic Atwood Park, Saturday, Feb. 17, noon-4 p.m., weather permitting.

Admission is free for this popular family-oriented event, which includes cross-country skiing lessons at 12:30 and 2 p.m. for $7/person, snow shelter demonstrations at 1 and 3 p.m., a live reptile presentation at 1 p.m., snow tubing from 2 until 3:30 p.m. for $1 per half-hour, recycled paper making from 1:15-3:15 p.m. for $2 per sheet, and storytelling/owl presentation at 3:30 p.m. Homemade chili and sandwiches/snacks will be available for purchase from noon until 3 p.m. The Center’s nature store will be open from noon until 4 p.m. If snow cover is insufficient, alternative family activities will be offered.
