Wood Song—Music in the Garden set for 2003

Klehm Arboretum and Botanic Garden proudly announces the entertainment for this year’s Wood Song—Music in the Garden.

Relax in the beauty of the Fountain Garden with musical entertainment on three Sunday evenings. June 22 features “Bopology” (Chicago). This six-piece band blends the old-time swing from the greats such as The Cherry Poppin’ Daddies, Royal Crown Revue and 1999 Grammy winner, Brian Setzer. July 20 brings “Mr. Myers” (DeKalb) to Wood Song’s Fountain Garden. This lively six-piece group blends the tropical sounds of Soca and Calypso with the rhythms of reggae, as well as remakes of rock and roll and R & B classics. Attendees are invited and encouraged to wear tropical attire and panama hats. Aug. 10 introduces “The Saxophones” (Chicago). This is a seven-piece band featuring everybody’s favorite instrument, the saxophone. Great classic rock, soul and swing with not one, but three saxophones up front and personal.

Patrons are invited to bring their favorite picnic fare or pre-order from the Wood Song menu, and bring a blanket or lawn chair to enjoy the evening. A catered dinner is being planned for one of the concerts. Dessert concessions on site vary per concert. Beverage concessions include iced cappuccinos, coffee, soft drinks and bottled waters.

General public admission tickets are available as follows: Concert Series—$30 per person and individual concet tickets by advance purchase—$12 each and day of concert tickets—$14. Major credit cards are accepted. Discount pricing is offered to Northern Illinois Botanical Society members. Gates open at 4 p.m. with concerts beginning at 6 p.m.
