World’s largest energy fair in Custer, Wis., June 15-17

June 15-17, thousands will flock to Custer, Wis., for the Midwest Renewable Energy & Sustainable Living Fair. The largest renewable energy educational event in the world will offer workshops, speakers and exhibits during the three-day event. The coordinators have organized the fair with three focuses: Friday is “Peace Day,” Saturday is “Clean Fuels Day” and Sunday is “Family Day.”

Exhibits open at 9 a.m. and close at 7 p.m. (4 p.m. Sunday). Workshops begin at 10 a.m. and close at 6 p.m. (4 p.m. Sunday). All activities during the fair and parking are included with paid admission. Fair is free to MREA members and children younger than 13. A one-day adult pass is $10, the full weekend pass is $25.

Each day offers a different keynote speaker and musical entertainment. Workshops cover a variety of skill levels, from beginner to advanced, and run the gamut from educator workshops, non-homeowner workshops, community projects, and photovoltaic and wind systems.

The MREA organized 170 different workshops and provided a printable list on their Web site, www.the-mrea.org. The site offers plentiful information about the fair and other events in the area.

For those without Internet access, the MREA has an information line at (715) 592-6595.
