The Rockford Writers’ Guild announces its annual poetry contest. Prizes of $100, $75 and $50 will be awarded. There is a 50-line limit per poem, and poems must be original by the author and unpublished. Any style or subject is OK.

The entry fee is $2 per poem or three poems for $5; checks should be written to Rockford Writers’ Guild. Poems should be typed one to a page and not include the author’s name. A separate cover letter should be included that lists the name, address, phone number and poem title.

Deadline is May 31, and winners will be paid by Aug. 31. No poems can be returned, and people who wish to know who won must include an empty, self-addressed, stamped envelope. Rockford Writers’ Guild reserves first North American publishing rights for the first-place poem to be printed in The Rockford Review. Mail entries to: Poetry Contest, Rockford Writers’ Guild, 7721 Venus St., Loves Park, IL 61111.
