YMCA of Rock River Valley Camp Winnebago starts 40th season

Camp Winnebago will have a 40-year celebration Saturday, Aug. 4. All current and past camp staff, donors, camp participants and families are invited to attend. For returning staff and families: Social hour at 11 a.m.-noon. Lunch will be at noon (RSVP). YMCA Camp Winnebago recently started its 40th season of day camp. Camp Winnebago was established in 1967 and has evolved to include day camp activities for preschool through sixth grade and Enrichment, Adventure and Leadership Camp Training through age 14. They also offer an Apprentice Counselor Training program for ages 14-17. Camp Winnebago serves an average of 200 campers a week. Camp Winnebago is 1 mile north of Rockford and rests on a 15-acre property with three beautiful log lodges, two pavilions, a climbing tower, ponds, a marsh, woodlands, streams, fields, prairies and a natural spring.
