YMCA to host 'A Taste of CHIP' Sept. 22

The YMCA of Rock River Valley, along with CHIP Foundation and CHIP Alumni of Rock River Valley, will host a special information meeting called “A Taste of CHIP” from 7 to 9 p.m., Thursday, Sept. 22, at the YMCA’s Log Lodge, 200 Y Blvd., Rockford.

CHIP (Coronary Health Improvement Project) is an educational lifestyle intervention program endorsed by the Physicians Committee for Responsible Medicine and the Center for Science in the Public Interest and Dr. T. Colin Campbell of Cornell University and author of The China Study. The U.S. Surgeon General reports that more than 70 percent of Western diseases are largely lifestyle-related. The CHIP program aims at the reversal and prevention of these diseases.

The information session is free and open to the public. “A Taste of CHIP” will include a discussion of the CHIP program along with an open question and answer session led by Dr. Hans Diehl and will also feature cooking demonstrations and taste testing; stretching for relaxation demonstration; and door prizes.
