YMCA Triathlon Experience 2004 set for Aug. 8 in Winnebago

YMCA Triathlon Experience will be held Sunday, Aug. 8 at Westlake Village in Winnebago. Registration information and forms are available at the YMCA, 200 Y Blvd., online at www.rockfordymca.org/triathlon or by calling the YMCA at 489-1216.

The event begins at 8 a.m. and includes a quarter-mile swim, 17-mile bike ride and a 4-mile run. Participants can compete in one of several divisions including Clydesdale (men), Athena (female), or Masters (any competitor age 60 or older). They can also participate as either an individual—in one of 10 different age groups from 13 years old to 60-plus, or on a team. Anyone competing as a team can do so in an all-male, all-female or co-ed team. There are no age groups for teams.

The quarter-mile open swim takes place at the lake in Westlake Village with a beach start and finish. The 17-mile bike course is on the county roads around Pecatonica and Winnebago. The 4-mile run is contained within the Westlake Village recreation path.

The individual registration entry fee is $38. The team registration entry fee is $55. Awards will be given to the top three finishers in each category.
