The path of yoga is not an easy one. There is a saying that ignorance is bliss, but according to the Yoga-Sutras of Patanjali, spiritual ignorance is the greatest of obstacles in life and on the path of yoga.

The Pranayama Yoga Studio, 517 E. State St., will offer “Yoga Philosophy Class: The 5 Afflictions and Discriminative Knowledge,” at 7:30-9 p.m., Wednesday, April 25. Cost is $10.

We must cultivate discriminative knowledge to overcome ignorance and the four other obstacles: egoism, attachment to pleasure, aversion to pain, and attachment to life. We will delve deeper into the meanings of these obstacles, deepen our understanding of true knowledge and begin our journey out of darkness and into light.
