Zion Lutheran’s fish fry March 2 benefits youth

Zion Lutheran Church, 925 Fifth Ave., will host a fish fry from 5:30 to 7 p.m., Friday, March 2. The dinner will be in the church fellowship hall.

Requested donation is $10 for adults and $5 for children younger than 12. The public is invited. For reservations, call Zion Church at (815) 964-4609. Payment may also be made at the door.

Chef Joel Kaplan, former owner of Joel’s Restaurant on North Main Street, will prepare baked and fried cod as well as baked, blackened and pan-seared tilapia. Chicken strips will be available for those who don’t eat fish. In addition, there is a “fish trio”—blackened tilapia, baked tilapia and fried cod for $12.

People may enter the church at the glass-enclosed entrance on Fifth Avenue. Parking is available in the AMCORE lot across the street.

The event will raise funds for the church youth group and for their mission trip this summer.
