*Welcome to TRRT’s new daily site*
By Brandon Reid Assistant Editor
Welcome to the new daily Web site of The Rock River Times.
In addition to featuring every article that appears in the printed weekly edition of the newspaper, rockrivertimes.com will also be a daily news source. The site will include a “Happening Now” section at the top of the front page that will be updated multiple times a day throughout the week. Articles will include a time-stamp so readers know how recent an article is.
The new daily site also features links to TRRT’s new Twitter (http://twitter.com/RockRiverTimes), Facebook (http://www.facebook.com/TheRockRiverTimes), MySpace and YouTube pages, which will be updated regularly and which will allow readers another opportunity to be a part of “The Voice of the Community.” To find these pages, simply click on the icons at the top right of rockrivertimes.com, or enter the addresses into a Web browser.
Additional features on the new daily site include the following:
- TRRT RSS feeds;
- the ability to post comments in reply to an article;
- Online Exclusives (articles that appear only online);
- a content-searchable site, including archives dating back to 2000;
- a Discussion Board;
- a downloadable pdf version of the printed weekly edition, which will make the newspaper more quickly available to readers the day of publication;
- an interactive community calendar;
- weather forecasts and temperatures; and
- a Question of the Week.
Other items are planned for the future, and readers are encouraged to check out the site and offer their thoughts and suggestions by sounding off on TRRT’s Twitter, Facebook or MySpace pages, or the Discussion Board at rockrivertimes.com; by calling TRRT at (815) 964-9767; e-mailing TRRT at firstname.lastname@example.org; or mailing The Rock River Times, 128 N. Church St., Rockford, IL 61101.
The new Web site is the result of the dedicated efforts of Webmaster Daniel Jenkins and Production Designer Jordan Hall.
Be sure to visit rockrivertimes.com regularly, as it will constantly be evolving and offering new features.
